This piece was born from a desire to combine styles — traditional figure drawing and anime. I started by choosing a reference image of the Greco-Roman statue Venus d'Arles. After I was satisfied with the central figure, I began drawing a scene around it.
I placed the statue in a lively museum setting surrounded by various cat girls. I kept their shading and linework simple to emphasize the stylistic contrast, and darkened the room behind the statue to draw the viewer's eye toward her. The piece was then scanned and colored digitally.
